Sesame oil is extracted from sesame seeds, which is also being used more commonly nowadays.
Since more than half of a sesame seed is composed of oil, sesame seeds are also a good source of healthy monounsaturated fat. The Black sesame seeds have a stronger flavour than the white or hulled version. Some people believe that its best to have the seed whole, with its hull intact.
It is also commonly called as Kala Til seed in India.
